At a prominent event for the sports and innovation sector, Iván Salazar, President of Hub Sports Valencia (4icvesport), attended the inaugural meeting of the Sports Innovation Initiative (SII) on January 16 and 17, 2024, in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. This gathering, held at the SX building in Torenallee, marked the beginning of a strategic collaboration among industry leaders aimed at driving innovation in sports.
The SII project, led by the European Platform for Sports Innovation (EPSI) and the Cluster Sports and Technology, brought together experts and renowned organizations, including representatives from Olympiacos, the University of Amsterdam, and Surpassport, among others. The meeting was opened by René Wijlens from the Cluster Sports and Technology, with an introduction by Alberto Bichi of EPSI, challenging attendees with crucial questions about innovation in sports.
Throughout the event, the importance of project management was discussed, and steering and quality assurance committees were appointed. Emphasis was placed on the need for a strategic and collaborative approach to overcome identified challenges, such as data collection through surveys and the establishment of clear performance indicators for sports innovation.
The HUB played a pivotal role in discussions on how to promote innovation in sports, sharing its vision and commitment to advancing sports practices through technology and collaboration. Our participation underscores the active role of 4icvesport in fostering innovation and development in the global sports arena.
The SII project presents a unique opportunity for sports organizations, municipal entities, and academic institutions to collaborate in defining common goals and developing self-assessment tools to measure and promote innovation in sports.
